Author Janet Lawler
WELCOME TO MY WEBSITE!
I am a children’s author. I love to write books and poems for children. Most visitors to my website are book-loving kids, parents, or teachers. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy your visit! And keep reading!

WHAT'S NEW!

HarperCollins will publish my next picture book,
Love Is Real, in early 2014; I love the preliminary sketches by illustrator Anna Brown.

If Kisses Were Colors has been named a Common Core Curriculum Map suggested work for Kindergarten.

Ocean Counting has gone to press and is available for pre-order! This National Geographic counting book (May, 2013) features fabulous photographs taken by award-winning photojournalist Brian Skerry. I loved writing kid-friendly facts about interesting ocean animals.

What happens when it's winter and a little girl and her brother get big ideas? They build Snowzilla, of course! This picture book is now available in stores and online, and I'm visiting schools and libraries with my tall tale about a snowman so huge he causes an uproar in town. Who ever heard of a lawsuit over a snowman? Amanda Haley's colorful illustrations add energy and humor to my story.

More “Kisses” are on the way in 2013! Grosset & Dunlap will publish a “Little Letters” edition of If Kisses Were Colors. You can mail this version to a special recipient after writing a personal note on a front flap. The hardcover edition of If Kisses Were Colors is in its 7th printing, and the full-text board book version released in 2010 is the perfect size for little hands.

Silly Ghosts popped out from Jumping Jack Press to delight kids and adults in the fall of 2011 (View pop-ups). Watch my interview on WTNH, Channel 8, to learn more about my Halloween story (Silly Ghosts on WTNH).

If you are like me and can’t get enough Halloween fun, you can look forward to my 2013 pop-up book. Silly Skeletons will feature trick-or-treating skeletons that fool the neighborhood with their very “real” costumes.
