Even though I am all grown up, I still love dinosaurs and Christmas! I’m excited to share my holiday picture book, which begins:
T’was the night before Christmas in dinosaur land, My story imagines a busy prehistoric holiday. Tyrannoclaus and his helpers are making and wrapping gifts for the dinosaur boys and girls. But the workshop happens to be tucked in a dormant volcano crater. Things get very interesting when the volcano erupts on Christmas Eve. Will the dinosaur boys and girls get their presents? You’ll have to read Tyrannoclaus (HarperCollins, September, 2009) to find out. To enter a kids’ contest by writing a letter to Tyrannoclaus, click on TYRANNOCLAUS KIDS’ CONTEST. Children (10 and under) can write a letter to Tyrannoclaus and win an autographed copy of my book. To learn more about my idea for this story and its journey to publication, click on Tyrannoclaus, "The story behind the story". A wonderful artist, John Shroades, illustrated Tyrannoclaus. Click on his name to visit to his website and see some of his fabulous work. Parents interested in "making reading a holiday tradition", click here. My essay is followed by suggested Christmas books listed by age group. |
